Celebrate the Small Things

Image
Celebrate the Small Things is a weekly bloghop hosted by Viklit over at Scribblings of an Aspiring Author . The idea is to post anything you want to celebrate from the last week. This week I'm celebrating: - An awesome week spent at Centerparcs! I had a great week away in the woods, going on nature walks and even getting a little adventurous by trying out some interesting activities! I should be posting about it soon, but I'm well aware that I still haven't managed to post about Spain, so don't hold your breath! - Being back at home with my Misty - I miss her a lot whenever I go away, and judging from her fussiness since we got back, she's missed me too! - Another five days off work! I booked the whole weekend off (I'm only contracted Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, the rest I do is overtime) so I'm not back at work until Thursday. This is great, because I feel like I need a break to recover from my break!

This week I'm celebrating: - I only have two days left at work before my ten days off, and I can't wait! I'm going to Centerparcs next week for five days, it's going to be a lot of fun. Work isn't going so well at the minute, so I'll be glad of the break! - I've been getting a lot of reading done over the last couple of days, and that's always something to celebrate! There's nothing better than escaping the real world with a good book :) - My boyfriend got paid today for the first time since getting his new job, so he's taking me out for a meal tomorrow to celebrate.

What's Up Wednesday

What’s Up Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by  Erin L Funk  and  Jaime Morrow , and the idea is to let other bloggers know where you are with any writing and reading goals you may have. 1. What I'm reading I'm still reading Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, but I'm right near the end now, I should get it finished in a couple of days. I'm off work next week too, so I should get a lot of reading done then. 2. What I'm writing I'm still not writing anything; I'm having a well deserved break after finishing my dissertation. I have plenty of ideas swirling around in my head, so it won't be long before I'm writing again. 3. What else I've been up to The weather's starting to get lovely and chilly here in England, so I've been spending a lot of time at home. I've basically been getting home from work and getting snuggled up under a blanket, reading or playing compute

This week I'm celebrating: - Freedom! I handed my dissertation in on Monday, which I've been working on since May, so that's a nice weight off my shoulders! It's so nice to be able to get home from work and be able to relax and do nothing without feeling guilty about writing going undone. Due to this, I've spent a lot of time playing The Sims 3 and reading Harry Potter this week! - I watched The Perks of Being a Wallflower on Monday, and I loved it; it really wasn't what I was expecting. I'm definitely going to get the book as soon as I can afford it. - The weather's getting nice and chilly, so I'm really starting to get excited for autumn and winter. They're my absolute favourite seasons :) P. S. Happy Friday 13th!

What I'm reading  I'm still reading Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, but I've got a lot more time to read now so I should finish it soon. I might start reading a book on my kindle as well, though I haven't decided which one yet. 2. What I'm writing  Nothing! I've finished my dissertation completely, and I handed it in on Monday. I'm taking a little break from writing, just to recover from the last few months! Then I'm going to get straight to work on my NaNoWriMo project ready for November. 3. What else I've been up to  Mostly I've been working and finishing off my dissertation, but I did go into Lincoln on Saturday after work to meet up with some friends I made during my undergra

Celebrate the Small Things and Express Yourself

Celebrate the Small Things is a weekly bloghop hosted by Viklit over at Scribblings of an Aspiring Author . The idea is to post anything you want to celebrate from the last week. Here's what I'm celebrating this week: - I've finished my dissertation! I sent it off to get bound yesterday, and I hand it in next Wednesday. It's so nice to finally have it done and finished, though it's been such a big part of my life for the last few months that I don't know what to do with myself now! I'm sure I'll find something :) - My sister graduated on Tuesday with a 2:1 BA Honours degree in Law. The graduation was amazing; the ceremony was held in Lincoln Cathedral, which is where I had my undergraduate graduation, and it's just beautiful. We had a great day celebrating. - My sister and I saw a friend on Wednesday who we haven't seen in about two years, so it was nice to have a catch up with him! He's about to do a Masters at Edinburgh U

The Insecure Writer's Support Group was created by Alex J. Cavanaugh as a place where writers can talk about their insecurities once a month, and receive encouragement and support from other writers. The major thing that I'm insecure about this month is my dissertation. It's pretty much finished now, I just need to do a few last minute things and then get it bound and it'll be ready to hand in. I'm really pleased with the feedback I got from my tutor last week - he said that my writing had improved a lot since the start of the course, which is obviously great news. Despite this, I'm really nervous about actually handing the dissertation in. I feel like I've done as much as I can to it at this point, but I'm nervous in case it's not enough. Hopefully it'll be fine, and I'll get a good mark on it. I certainly feel like I've worked on it hard enough and for long enough to earn a good grade, so hopefully my tutors feel the same way! T

Goals for September

I didn't have many goals in August because I knew most of the month would be spent on my dissertation, and I was right! I didn't get anywhere near as much reading done as I'd hoped. My goals for August were to: - Finish my dissertation short stories - Done. I've actually done a lot more than I had expected to by this point - there are only a couple more last minute things to do, and then the whole thing will be ready to hand in. It's not due until the 12th, so I have plenty of time, but I'm eager to get it finished and sent off so I don't have to worry about it any more! - Read 5 more books - I failed miserably with this goal, I only read one book in August. I don't mind, though, since I would rather have spent my time on my dissertation than reading anyway.  Here are my goals for September: - Hand in my dissertation - Like I said above, it's very nearly done now, so I shouldn't have a problem with this one. I only have a few last mi
