Why I Love My Kindle Fire!

I used to say I would never, ever get a kindle - I like my books too much! But over the past few months, the idea of owning a kindle has been growing in my mind. A lot of bloggers I know have self-published books that are only available on the kindle, so this was one of the reasons I wanted to get one. Also, my bookshelf is pretty overcrowded so I could do with buying less paperback books!
Originally I was just going to get the basic £69 kindle, as I only really wanted it for reading and didn't really want to spend too much money on it. However, my mum's a bad influence and persuaded me that I might as well pay the extra £50 and get one that I can do a lot more on. I'm glad she did, because I love my new Kindle Fire.
Here are some good things about it:
- It's much lighter than most of the books I tend to read
- It has a backlight, so I'll never struggle to read it
- You can download free books for it from Amazon
- You can buy books for your Kindle at the click of a button
- It enables you to store thousands of books in one place
- You can play Angry Birds on it!

And some bad things:
- You can buy books at the click of a button! This is not good if I want to save my loan instead of spending it straight away!
- You have to keep it charged - it lasts about 8 hours with continual use, so a few days, but you don't ever have to charge a book.
- It's not a book, and nothing can beat a proper book.

Overall, I'm really glad I went ahead and bought myself a Kindle, as it does make it easier and I have been reading a lot more than I did before I got it.

Just one quick announcement, I feel like I've been neglecting both of my blogs recently, so I've come up with new schedules for them. For this one, I'll be doing a few book-related posts, as well as my usual Express Yourself Meme posts and one writing post a week. This will add up to about 4 posts a week (twice as much as I do now).
On Unwritten I'll be doing 3 posts a week, which is much more than the 1 post a month I'm doing at the minute! These three posts will all be writing related, with flash fiction and writing I've done for university.
Hopefully I'll stick to these schedules; I'm hoping to start planning posts in advance (which I've never really done before) so that should make it easier.

  3. I didn't think I would use a Kindle because I love physical books... but now that I've got one I use it all the time! It is especially nice because I can download galleys from NetGalley onto it :)

    1. I didn't expect to love it as much as I do for the same reason; my love for physical books. I like the fact that you can buy a book on it and start reading it 5 seconds later!

  5. People who like books will buy books. People who like to read will have books in all formats because different formats work best at different time. Just because you now read some ebooks doesn't mean you'll give up physical books. So enjoy the good things and know your are a reader.

    1. I 100% agree, at the end of the day it doesn't matter what form of book you're reading, as long as you're reading one :)

    1. I'll always prefer books, nothing can compare to opening a brand new book - or an old loved one - and starting to read that first page :)
